Welcome to Possums’ End Homestay

The name says it all. We have spent a good deal of time and resources over the past 7 years removing introduced and highly destructive possums - and other exotic pests - and are now enjoying the resulting regeneration of the native bush and the welcome return of many of our native birds and animals. If you have an interest in conservation then Possums' End is the place to stay.

Possums’ End is a fully self contained single bedroom homestay adjacent to the owner’s house, backing on to regenerating bush.




Possums’ End has expansive views over Otago Harbour, out to The Heads and the Pacific Ocean beyond. From the hill above the property (a strenuous 15 minute walk from the back door of the homestay) there are 360° views taking in much of the Otago Peninsula, Hoopers and Papanui Inlets and the surrounding hills.

Possums’ End is centrally located on the Otago Peninsula,
being only 1km from the centre of Portobello with its shop,
hotel, restaurant and café.
The Albatross Colony and other wildlife viewing such as yellow eyed penguins,
little blue penguins, seals and sea lions are all within a 20 minute drive.
Larnach’s Castle is a 20 minute drive and central Dunedin 30 minutes.

Manuka Bush Possums’ End Facilities

Fully self contained single bedroom homestay adjacent to the owner’s own house,
backing on to regenerating bush.
It has a lounge/diner/kitchenette with stunning views across Otago Harbour and
beyond to the Pacific Ocean. The kitchenette is well appointed with a dual hob,
microwave and ample crockery and cutlery.
A generous bedroom with a queen sized bed leads to an en-suite with underfloor heating
and a shower over a large relaxing bath.
A utility room has an automatic top loading washing machine and an area to hang wet clothing.
A small private outside area allows for al fresco dining surrounded by bush and
native bird-life with fine views over Otago Harbour.
